On Android, CalCoach reads your health data from Health Connect. Apps such as Samsung Health, Fitbit or your smart scale's app write to Health Connect, and CalCoach picks up what they share.
Before you start
Health Connect is built into recent versions of Android. On older phones, install Health Connect from the Play Store first. If it is missing, the Health Data screen tells you so.
Turn it on
- Go to Account → Health Data.
- Switch on Sync with Health Connect.
- Health Connect asks which data CalCoach may read. Allow the ones you want.
- CalCoach runs its first sync straight away.
If you don't allow anything, CalCoach shows Permission Required with an Open Settings button that takes you to Health Connect's settings for CalCoach.
Once sync is on, five switches let you choose what CalCoach imports:
| Switch | What it brings in |
|---|---|
| Weight | Every weigh-in, for example from a smart scale |
| Body Fat | Body fat percentage, if your scale measures it |
| Exercise | Exercise sessions, with active calories burned in them |
| Steps | Your daily step count |
| Water | Water you log in another app that shares hydration |
CalCoach only reads from Health Connect. It never writes anything back.
How often it syncs
CalCoach syncs each time you open the app or bring it back to the foreground, at most once every five minutes. Tap Sync Now on the Health Data screen to sync straight away and see when the Last sync happened. CalCoach doesn't sync in the background.
How far back it goes
The first sync imports the last 90 days. Each later sync also re-checks the past week, so sessions that arrive late from another app still come through. Workouts from the last 48 hours appear in your chat as a card marked Synced from Health Connect.
Missing permissions
If a switch is on but Health Connect hasn't granted that data type, you'll see Additional permissions needed. Tap Grant permissions and allow the missing types. If the prompt doesn't appear, CalCoach opens Health Connect's settings so you can turn them on there.
Turning it off
Switch off Sync with Health Connect to stop importing. Data that has already synced stays in CalCoach.
