On iPhone, CalCoach can read your health data from Apple Health, so anything your Apple Watch, smart scale or other fitness apps write there appears in CalCoach without retyping.

Turn it on

  1. Go to Account → Health Data.
  2. Switch on Sync with Apple Health.
  3. Apple's permission sheet opens. Allow the categories you want to share and tap Allow.
  4. CalCoach runs its first sync straight away.

Once sync is on, five switches let you choose what CalCoach imports:

SwitchWhat it brings in
WeightEvery weigh-in, for example from a smart scale
Body FatBody fat percentage, if your scale measures it
ExerciseWorkouts, with their duration and active calories
StepsYour daily step count
WaterWater you log in another app, such as WaterMinder

CalCoach only reads from Apple Health. It never writes anything back.

How often it syncs

CalCoach syncs each time you open the app or bring it back to the foreground, at most once every five minutes. To sync now, tap Sync Now on the Health Data screen, which also shows when the Last sync happened. CalCoach doesn't sync in the background, so new data arrives the next time you open the app.

How far back it goes

The first sync imports the last 90 days. After that, each sync also re-checks the past week, so workouts that another app adds to Apple Health a day or two late still come through.

Workouts from the last 48 hours also appear in your chat as a card marked Synced from Apple Health. Older ones go straight into your history without a chat card.

Missing permissions

If a switch is on but Apple Health hasn't granted that category, the Health Data screen shows Additional permissions needed. Tap Grant permissions. iOS only shows its permission sheet once per category, so if nothing appears, change the setting in the Health app instead: tap your profile picture, then Apps, then CalCoach, and turn on the categories you want.

Turning it off

Switch off Sync with Apple Health to stop importing. Data that has already synced stays in CalCoach.
