If a day's totals do not look right, one of these is usually the cause. Most are quick to fix from the Logged section of the Diary tab, or by telling Cal.

The same food is logged twice

This can happen if you log a meal in chat and also tap Log on the same planned meal, or send the same message twice.

To fix it: find the extra entry under Logged, tap its ⋮ menu and choose Remove log. You can also ask Cal to remove it.

The food matched the wrong thing

Sometimes a food matches a different product or portion from the one you ate.

To fix it: tap Adjust on the log to edit its ingredients or macros, or tell Cal what it should be, for example "that was a small bowl, not a large one". If a food from our database has the wrong values, tap ⋮ and choose Report data so we can check it.

Exercise is counted twice

If you log a workout with Cal and your watch also syncs it from Apple Health or Health Connect, it can appear twice. Synced workouts are marked "Synced from…".

To fix it: tap Remove on the extra exercise entry. This only affects your calories if Show net calories is on. Steps never change your calories.

A tracker's daily total was logged as exercise

A watch's total daily burn includes the energy your body uses at rest, which your target already covers. If it was logged as exercise, it gives you far more room than your workout earned. Remove it and log your individual workouts instead.

Food landed on the wrong day

Days follow your phone's time zone, so travelling moves the line between days. A snack logged just after midnight belongs to the new day.

To fix it: ask Cal to move it, for example "move my last snack to yesterday".

Your target changed

Earlier days in the Diary are shown against your current targets. If you recently recalculated or edited them, older days can look different from how they did at the time. The food itself has not changed.

The numbers are estimates

Calories for home-made and restaurant food are estimates. Adding a label photo, barcode or weight in grams makes them more precise.
