Alongside weight, CalCoach keeps a history of your body fat and skeletal muscle mass. Find both in Account → Body Metrics.

Log body fat

  1. Go to Account → Body Metrics and open the Body Fat tab.
  2. Tap Add and pick the Date.
  3. Under Enter as, choose how you measured it:
    • %: type the percentage from your scale, scan or assessment.
    • Fat Mass: enter the weight of fat in kg, st/lbs or lbs. CalCoach converts it to a percentage using a weight you've logged, and shows which weigh-in it used. Log a weight first if you haven't.
    • Calipers: enter your Skinfold Readings (mm) for chest, abdomen, thigh, tricep and suprailiac (hip). If your profile has a date of birth and gender, CalCoach estimates the percentage for you. Otherwise, enter the percentage yourself.
  4. Tap Add.

You can also tell Cal, for example "body fat 22% this morning".

Body fat from a smart scale

If your scale shares body fat with Apple Health or Health Connect, turn on the Body Fat switch in Account → Health Data. Readings arrive on their own and are always stored as a percentage, such as 22.5%, whichever way your scale or health app records them.

Skeletal muscle mass

Open the Other tab in Body Metrics and tap Add to log Skeletal Muscle Mass in kg or lbs. Cal can log it for you too.

Tape measurements

CalCoach doesn't have a screen for tape measurements such as waist or hips yet.

BMI

CalCoach works out your BMI from your latest weight and the height in your profile. It appears in PDF reports, and Cal can refer to it. It isn't shown on a screen in the app.
