Cal is the AI coach in the Chat tab. You type or speak to Cal in plain language, and Cal acts on your CalCoach data for you.
What you can ask Cal to do
- Log food. Describe a meal, or send a photo of the food or its nutrition label. Cal breaks the meal into ingredients and looks each one up in the food database.
- Edit logs. "Make that 2 slices, not 1", "that was only 220 kcal" or "move that to Saturday". Numbers you give are kept as you stated them.
- Log exercise, weight, body fat and muscle mass. Cal can also show your weight trend as a chart.
- Tell you how your day is going. Cal checks your logged totals against your targets before answering.
- Suggest meals that fit what is left of your targets, including picking from a restaurant menu.
- Build meal plans and regulars, the meals that repeat every week.
- Look up foods before you log them.
- Create and track habits, and show your progress on one as a grid.
- Save favourites, so a food you eat often can be logged in one tap.
- Remember your preferences. Tell Cal about allergies, foods you avoid, a diet you follow, cuisines you like or how many meals you eat, and Cal saves them to Account → Nutritional Preferences.
- Draft feedback to the CalCoach team when something in the app is not working.
When a day's chat is empty, Cal shows a few suggested prompts. Tap View all templates to see the full set, grouped under Logging, Nutrition Targets and Meal Planning.
Cal is one part of the app
Several features are screens you use directly:
- the barcode scanner (Log food → Scan barcode)
- the Diary
- Body Metrics and Progress
- Challenges
- Spaces in the Community tab
Cal can read what these record. A product you scanned or a weigh-in you added in Body Metrics is there when you ask Cal about your day or your trend.
Good to know
Cal can make mistakes, and its suggestions are general guidance, not medical advice. Check a log card after Cal creates it, and tell Cal if something is wrong. Cal fixes the existing entry rather than adding a new one.
