The meal types
Each log belongs to one of six meal types:
- Breakfast
- Lunch
- Dinner
- Snack
- Pre-workout
- Post-workout
The Diary groups your logs under these headings, in that order.
How a meal type is chosen
In chat, Cal picks the meal type from what you say. Say it outright for certainty: "for breakfast", "as a snack", "after the gym". Pre-workout and Post-workout are only used when you mention a workout, as in "pre-workout shake" or "after training". Otherwise Cal chooses the most likely of the first four.
In the Log a meal screen (search or barcode), the meal type starts from the time of day:
| Time logged | Default |
|---|---|
| Before 11:00 | Breakfast |
| 11:00 to 14:59 | Lunch |
| 15:00 to 20:59 | Dinner |
| 21:00 onwards | Snack |
You can change it on that screen under Meal Type before saving.
From favourites, the log uses the meal type saved with the favourite, if it has one.
A log with no meal type shows under Snacks.
Change a meal type
- Find the log card in chat or in the Diary.
- Tap the meal type at the top right of the card.
- Pick the new one from the list.
The change saves straight away and the log moves to its new heading in the Diary. You can also ask Cal: "move the toast to breakfast".
